S-OneLP Senior Director Product Development Presents Sustainability in Flexible Packaging at Labelexpo Master Class

S-OneLP is thrilled to announce Dan Halkyard, our Senior Director Product Development, will be the presenter for the Labelexpo Label Academy Master Class: Flexible Packaging on September 10 from 11:30 am to noon. The session’s focus is Sustainability in Flexible Packaging and will highlight the following:

  • Working with mono materials and compostable and recyclable structures
  • Selling sustainability: Strategies for reducing carbon footprint
  • Staying compliant with environmental regulations

“I’m eager to educate industry leaders to drive innovation and set new standards in sustainable, flexible packaging,” Halkyard said. “I’ll share valuable insights to inspire and empower attendees in advancing sustainable practices and addressing environmental challenges.”

Halkyard’s extensive experience in developing, testing, and certifying recyclable, compostable and post-consumer recycled (PCR) content flexible packaging materials will be a benefit to master class attendees. He has over 35 years of experience in the digital print market space focusing on digital printing substrates and coatings.

As an S-OneLP product developer, he has developed a range of digitally printable flexible packaging films and papers. These products were introduced to complement S-OneLP offerings of HP Indigo primers and overprint varnishes. These solutions are provided to flexible packaging and label converters who use coatings and unimaged films to make their final printed products.

S-One LP’s flexible packaging film portfolio is comprised of three product lines including Classic, ReTreve, and ReEarth. Classic is made from mixed plastic packaging films. ReTreve is made from recyclable polyethylene (PE). ReEarth is made from bio- based and compostable films.

Halkyard is instrumental in the development and certification of ReEarth including products that have been certified by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), Composting Manufacturers Alliance (CMA,) TUV for both OK Compost Home and Industrial, and Lomi Approved™.

Halkyard joined S-OneLP in 2016. He has worked for companies such as James River Corporation, Rexam, Arkwright, Oce, and Sihl.

S-OneLP will have two booths at Labelexpo from September 10-12. Booth 6385 will give visitors the opportunity to experience the Cellcoat T14 Thermal Laminator in action with live demonstrations. The T14 features a small footprint while delivering big on performance.

Booth 1353 focuses on primers, overprint varnishes and coatings, and flexible packaging films showcasing the latest packaging technology including Michelman and Kustom Koatings solutions.
