Neenah, Inc. Expands DISPERSA Product Line to Include DISPERSA DT for Direct Thermal Printing

To meet customer demand for sustainable direct thermal printing labels, Neenah announces the market launch of water-dispersible DISPERSA® DT (Direct Thermal), an innovative extension to its popular DISPERSA® portfolio. DISPERSA DT was developed as a sustainable solution for applications such as food rotation labels and reusable plastic container labels.

Using the innovative technology developed for its paper-based DISPERSA line, Neenah added a direct thermal print coating to DISPERSA DT labels that are designed to disperse in water along with any imprinted or handwritten graphics.

“In direct thermal printing, media selection has a direct impact on the life of the print head. Our proprietary direct thermal coating is less abrasive which contributes to less coating residue build up on the print heads and more life out of your equipment,” said Kelli Clark, label product manager, Neenah.

The entire DISPERSA product line of labels, tags, and pouches are reportedly designed for functionality with sustainability in mind. All products, including DISPERSA DT, are made with FSC® controlled fibers and several of the products have been tested for flushability and bio-based content.

“Direct thermal printing fits well with the value of DISPERSA. The absence of ribbons and other consumables combined with the smaller footprint of direct thermal printers matches the sustainability pillar on which DISPERSA stands,” added Clark. “Our R&D scientists are always looking for ways to bring innovations to life. We work closely with customers to understand their needs, and as a result, products like DISPERSA DT become a reality,”
