Meteor Inkjet Announces New Line of DropWatchers, Image Screening and Software

Meteor DropWatcher

CAMBRIDGE, UNITED KINGDOM | Meteor Inkjet, the leading independent supplier of electronics and software to drive industrial inkjet printheads, enhances its portfolio with the launch of a new DropWatcher family of products as well as the integration of the Harlequin® Host Renderer and ScreenPro.

Meteor DropWatchers

Meteor DropWatchers are turnkey systems for evaluating and optimising printhead and ink combinations using proven electronics that can be transferred straight from the lab to manufacturing.

Driven by a single Windows 10 PC, Meteor DropWatchers are an essential tool for printhead waveform characterisation and development. Incorporating easily interchangeable printhead mounts, printhead drive electronics and intuitive software with the familiar Meteor user interface, Meteor DropWatchers support all major industrial inkjet printheads from FUJIFILM Dimatix, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Ricoh, Seiko Instruments, Toshiba TEC and Xaar.

Integrated RIP for Industrial Inkjet Printers

The company also further enhances its software portfolio with the integration of the Harlequin® Host Renderer to provide seamless, high-speed printing of a wide variety of native file types including PDF and PostScript®. Developed by Global Graphics Software, the Harlequin RIP is a world-leading, feature-rich RIP capable of meeting the demands of all graphics markets including packaging, coding, books, transpromo, commercial print, labeling and décor. With this integrated RIP, formats such as PDF, PostScript®, EPS, TIFFTM, JPEG, PDF/X and PDF/VT can be printed using any industrial inkjet printhead powered by Meteor electronics.

First used in a production system in 1988, today’s generation of Harlequin is now at the heart of digital presses including Canon, Delphax, HP Indigo, HP PageWide, Memjet, Roland and Durst. It is now available, fully integrated out-of-the-box, to all Meteor electronics customers.

Image Screening to Optimise Print Quality

Meteor Jet also introduces ScreenPro, the ultra-high-speed screening engine developed by Global Graphics Software. Meteor develops and supplies electronics to drive all types of industrial inkjet printheads in applications as diverse as packaging, ceramics and 3D printing. The integration of ScreenPro enables Meteor to adapt contone data so that ink does not clump, coalesce, chain or produce streaks on the media. Advanced Inkjet Screens are available for different substrates including ‘Pearl’ for absorbent media and ‘Mirror’ for non-absorbent media.

ScreenPro is used by, among others, Mark Andy, the leading US hybrid label machine OEM. ScreenPro is now available, fully integrated out-of-the-box, to all Meteor electronics customers.
