A Dynamic Duo – Quest and Ossid Team Up to Demonstrate Robotic Protein Packaging Automation at IPPE 2023

Quest and Ossid, two leading manufacturers within the ProMach family of brands, are teaming up to demonstrate an integrated robotic packaging line in booth C12813 at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), Jan. 24-26, 2023, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

This integrated packaging line demonstrates a versatile Quest QP100 Robotic primary product handling system feeding into an Ossid thermoformer. Utilizing Fanuc vision and the flexibility of a six-axis robot, this system identifies, orientates, and loads steaks into thermoformed trays. The robot end-of-arm tool utilizes a Soft Robotics’ mGrip™ soft gripper designed for delicate and difficult-to-handle products, such as poultry and meats. Soft Robotics mGrip™ enables robots to safely and efficiently pick and pack food products with a pneumatically actuated gripper that is made of IP69K food-grade materials.

Show attendees will notice just how small of a footprint an integrated line of this size can be; it does not take up a lot of space in a facility, and it can be made more compact if necessary. It is also scalable to add additional robots for higher production rates and volumes.

This integrated packaging line for protein applications is a great illustration of ProMach bringing its product brands closer together to better meet the needs of its customers. Projects like this allow customers to have one central point of contact, which serves as a one-stop, full-service provider by connecting ProMach brands together.

Quest (https://www.questindustrial.com/) is an award-winning, FANUC Authorized system integrator and certified vision specialist, and its systems are capable of direct food contact with U.S. Department of Agriculture compliant and washdown designs. The diverse knowledge base of Quest engineers and programmers encompasses the entire manufacturing process, allowing them to solve virtually any customer application with the appropriate level of robotic automation.

Ossid (https://www.ossid.com/) is the industry’s premier brand in manufacturing sustainable, efficient tray packaging, weigh/labeling and form fill seal machinery for numerous industries, including food, healthcare and others.

Plan to visit Quest and Ossid, who are exhibiting together in booth C12813 at IPPE, to learn how this robotic packaging line can work for your next protein line application.
