Charter NEX Films announced it has joined the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) − a growing global network focused on ending plastic waste in the environment.
“Charter NEX is committed to sustainability − in our manufacturing operations, in our products, and as a partner to customers looking to develop more sustainable packaging. By joining the Alliance, we’ll take that commitment to the next level and collaborate with others in the value chain to create new end-of-life solutions for plastic waste,” said Kathy Bolhous, CEO of Charter NEX Films.
Through its award-winning GreenArrow™ portfolio of sustainable films, Charter NEX develops flexible packaging that is recyclable, uses higher volumes of recycled content (PCR), and/or incorporates materials made from renewable resources. In 2019, the company ranked in the top 11 percent of businesses evaluated by EcoVadis − a trusted provided of sustainability ratings and intelligence. In 2019, Charter NEX achieved the milestone of diverting more than a million pounds of waste to landfill and plans to increase the number of its ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ sites in 2020 in addition to launching several new recyclable film technologies.
“Sustainability and sustainable manufacturing are at the core of Charter NEX’s mission and it’s constant pursuit of A Better Way. As a member of the Alliance, we’ll help accelerate the comprehensive global effort to address the issue of plastic waste in the environment,” said Scott Hammer, Corporate Sustainability Leader for Charter NEX.
Launched in January 2019, AEPW brings together organizations that make, use, process, sell, collect and recycle plastics in order to tackle the complex challenge of plastics waste from all angles. To date, member companies have committed more than $1 billion with the goal of investing over $1.5 billion in education, infrastructure and clean-up efforts over the next five years.
