Improving the Consumer Experience With New PET Packages for CBD-infused Beverages

The cannabinoid beverage industry is poised for 50% annual growth through 2027, yet product novelty alone does not ensure market success. Differentiation on the shelves is crucial if consumers are to find brands in an increasingly crowded space. Equally important, brands must earn consumer trust by delivering predictable and consistent potency for a satisfying experience every time.

Penn Color recently addressed both brand differentiation and shelf-life protection for cannabinoid beverages at the Future Cannabis Strategies North America 2022 in Toronto, Canada. The conference featured a slate of 20 cannabis experts, addressing quality control, pending legislation, new product development, finance, edibles and packaging.

In 2022, following demand from the market, Penn Color pioneered an enabling technology for THC/CBD infused beverages in PET containers, allowing great products to build brand equity with great packaging, instead of settling for a packaging that blends in. PET offers brands the freedom to choose distinctive shapes, colors and textures to tell their unique story, and Penn Color’s innovative “one-pellet masterbatch solution” helps control product potency over an extended period of time. The solution is the result of Penn Color’s collaboration with brands, co-packers, custom cannabinoid emulsion suppliers and packaging equipment manufacturers.
