UPM Specialty Papers Introduces Heat Sealable and Recyclable Barrier Papers for Dry and Frozen Foods

UPM Specialty Papers presents the latest innovative additions to its extensive selection of sustainable and recyclable packaging papers. UPM Confidio™ and UPM Confidio™ Pro combine moisture and grease resistance with excellent heat sealing properties.

UPM Specialty Papers adds heat sealable products to UPM’s wide packaging product portfolio. This ground-breaking feature allows for a streamlined conversion process and an accelerated time-to-market. Made from renewable fibres, UPM Confidio and UPM Confidio Pro are repulpable and designed to be recycled in regular fibre recycling streams.

In addition, UPM Confidio Pro offers superior print results through all printing methods, resulting in a saturated outcome with sharper and more vivid colors. The combination of heat sealability, moisture resistance, grease resistance, and a mineral oil barrier makes it an optimal choice for a wide range of end-uses.

UPM Confidio and UPM Confidio Pro are suitable as both primary and secondary packaging for dry, greasy, and frozen food products. They are FDA and BfR compliant and safe for direct food contact.

UPM Specialty Papers continues to invest in Research and Development

The packaging industry is experiencing an unprecedented change. Greener, easily consumed goods, and easily recyclable packaging is what consumers desire and what regulations require. This impacts the entire packaging value network. UPM Confidio and UPM Confidio Pro have been developed strongly based on feedback from UPM Specialty Papers’ partners.

During the product development process, UPM Specialty Papers has expanded its co-operation with external partners such as the leading Finnish food and bakery company Fazer.

With the addition of UPM Confidio and UPM Confidio Pro, UPM Specialty Papers looks forward to expanding its market reach to new markets and end-uses. UPM Specialty Papers helps companies reach their sustainability goals and match regulatory demands through ground-breaking packaging products. UPM is among the 1% of over 90,000 companies assessed across over 160 countries to receive the EcoVadis Platinum score, the highest level of sustainability recognition provided by EcoVadis.
