National Snack Food Month: Wrap Up Waste by Recycling Your Snack Wrappers
It’s National Snack Food Month and Americans are reportedly snacking more than ever. While single-serving snacks are all the rage, an unfortunate side effect is that their packaging tends to end up in landfills and incinerators. This National Snack Food Month international recycling leader TerraCycle is asking snackers to put a wrap on throwing away snack and candy wrappers and instead recycle the waste.
Most wrappers are made from a mix of materials like polypropylene, aluminum foil, and paper that are not typically accepted by municipal recycling services. That’s why TerraCycle offers free and paid recycling solutions to keep multi-layer packaging, like chip bags, candy wrappers, and more out of the trash.
“Snack foods wrapped in single-use packaging are popular because they are convenient,” said Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO of TerraCycle. “That’s why we offer a variety of TerraCycle’s recycling solutions to make recycling easy and simple.”
